Glowing in the Midwinter Sun
My favourite time of the year in the studio has arrived, when the winter sun is low, and illuminates all the beautiful alabaster sculptures in my studio. I am incredibly fortunate to have a studio with so many windows, and to experience the changing light minute by minute. I am often running around the studio moving the family of sculptures around, to capture them at their optimum, and to see if they require further work.
There have been a few new additions to the family, that I look forward to sharing with you in the near future.
Below you can see me having a conversation with Lottie, who is my current crush! She and I have been trying a few different bases for her, so that she feels comfortable, secure, and is displayed to her optimum. We settled on a different base from the one in this picture which is top secret for now.
I am very excited about an upcoming Special Workshop I am running at Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School (Erskineville, Sydney) - a weekend of alabaster carving in mid July! All places have been filled, however I may run another workshop either later in the year, or in the first quarter of 2019. Please contact TBSSS if you are interested in this workshop to put your name down on a contact list. (Or for any other of the wonderful regular sculpture workshops that they run.)
Another reason for me to be excited, is that I have a selection of my works on display at the Clara Street Gallery in Erskineville - I will be giving a talk about my practice and methodology on the 7th of July, 2018 at 2pm. All welcome!
